The 3nd Century CE the Roman Empire was divided into two, East and West. The West side was the Roman Empire. The Eastern side was the Byzantine Empire. It ran for 1000 more years. The empire capital is called Constantinople till between the fifth and fifteenth centuries C.E.
The Later Byzantine Empire
When the emperor built the new capital he built libraries, museums, and other public buildings for people in this new empire.
Their main language was Latin, but then they are gonna change later on. The world Byzantine means structure in Latin. The first Christine emperor for the early Byzantine empire was Constantine.
He set a precedent by hedging his rule with an aura of divinity. He was the one who set things right and he got the empire started.
He initiated a policy that historians call 'casesaropapism' it means that the emperor not only rule as a secular lord but an active and prominent role in ecclesiastical affairs. By the sixth century, Byzantine emperors stood above the law.
They still considered themselves as Romans. The emperor is also in charge of the religion. They use roads and sea to trade with Asia, Europe, and Africa because of their location, but the location may have them in trouble with outsiders.
